2 Chronicles 20:10-12
In the previous verses Jehoshaphat acknowledges God’s power, expresses God’s might and assures his people God will hear them. But now, the Ammonites, Moabites and the people form Mount Seir, people who when they left Egypt they were not allowed to destroy (Deuteronomy 2:8,9,19.) Now they are coming to wage war, they are coming to invade the promised land . . . but why? God had something special for His people to learn. Several times during these Covid-19 days, I have expressed, “I do not want to miss what God wants me to learn.”
Jehoshaphat Beseeches God Regarding the Injustice
But now here are men from Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, whose territory
you would not allow Israel to invade when they came from Egypt; so they
turned away from them and did not destroy them. Verse 10
Jehoshaphat Beseeches God Regarding their Inheritance
See how they are repaying us by coming to drive us out of the possession
you gave us as an inheritance. Verse 11
Jehoshaphat Beseeches God Regarding What to Do
Our God, . . . We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you. Verse 12
Let us learn as much as possible during this time remembering what Isaiah wrote; As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
